HI, I’M ETHAN

Mathematics at UW.
Teaching since 2017.

I was born in Haifa, Israel, and grew up in the Seattle area. At 16, I entered the University of Washington through the UW Academy program. Three years later, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.

What connects the subjects I teach is the thinking behind them: seeing a pattern in a math problem, finding the right evidence for an argument, or understanding why a chess move works.

Today, I teach online, working with students across the US and around the world.

IN OUR LESSONS

Explanation, practice, feedback.

I ask students to explain.

I ask how they chose an answer and what they tried. Their explanation tells me whether to revisit a concept, change the method, or practice a similar question.

I choose the next assignment.

I select questions or writing tasks based on the lesson. I explain which work is the priority and what to bring back for review.

I keep parents informed.

After each lesson, I send a summary of what we covered and the homework. You can reply directly with questions.
